Here is a great piece of American history! This is a US Cavalry bit marked on one side with a US stamp, a 2 on the other (for port height) and on the side it's marked Y & T, for Yale and Townsend. Yale was also the manufacturer of the famous Yale locks! It is nickel plated but appears to have a high silver(?) content because it is very bright. Amazing survivor of history! Won't come across these often!
